This document explains changes that will be applied to Solaris and Linux machines that are under CMU SCS Facilities support.
|Operating System||Support Level|
If your machine is under support, facilities will apply patches and updates well before the end of february.
If your machine is not under support, you may want to review our documentation on Unsupported Solaris and Linux Systems for information on how to work around these problems.
Many of these patches and updates have been applied and are being tested on select alpha and beta release machines. Once we are convinced that these patches and updates are working as expected, we will release these changes to all supported machines. We expect that these fixes and patches will be supplied to all facilties supported Solaris and Linux machines well before the end of February.
If your machine does not receive these updates, your machine will not display the correct time starting March 11. Your machine will be incorrectly configured for Standard Time instead of Daylight Savings Time.
If your machine is not under support, facilities staff members will not update, fix, nor workaround the problem on your machine. Facilities staff members may or may not be available to supply advice on how you might be able to work around this problem.
