Here are some links to simulators and other performance analysis tools
that you may find useful:
- SimOS: a simulator which
can simulate OS as well as user-level code.
- ATOM: a very nice tool for
instrumenting Alpha binaries.
- Alpha performance counters: Alpha processors have nice on-chip performance counters which let you profile things like cache misses, branch mispredictions, etc.
- SimpleScalar: a superscalar processor simulator.
- WARTS: Wisconsin
Architectural Research Tool Set: a collection of tools including a
path profiling tool, cache simulators, etc.
- Augmint: a
multiprocessor simulator for x86 architectures.
- MINT: a
multiprocessor simulator for MIPS architectures.
- RSIM: a multiprocessor
simulator that models out-of-order superscalar processors.
- SPLASH: a
suite of parallel applications for shared-memory machines that are often
used in parallel architecture studies.
