"Fake Miniature" Image by Simulating Tilt Shift

Background

The objective of this project is to simulate tilt shift and make the image look like "fake miniature." My program first allows the user to select a region of depth of field region and then increases the bluriness of the image around the focus plane using gaussian filter.

Conclusion/Discussion

The values I've selected for the gaussian filter did not work for all the images. It was interesting to see the picture of the miniature looking more like a miniature image. But in general, the results of the program was good expecially with the landscape of downtown Pittsburgh.

This series of images were taken from the roof of my apartment.

This image was taken from the Science Museum in downtown Pittsburgh. I thought it would be interesting to fake a miniature version of the miniature picture.
