Project 0
Vertigo Shot/Dolly Zoom
Matt Morrill
Both of these photo collections were taken with a Canon Rebel XT with a standard 18-55 mm IS lens in West Wing dorm lounge.
Most of my initial ideas for this assignment I quickly found were intractable with the equipment I have available to me. I wanted to try to recreate a shot of a stairwell similar to the ones in Hitchcock's Vertigo. There were many staircases I had in mind and attempted to shoot on campus, but the main problem was that I could not get the shots I wanted because I could not get the shots straight down the center of the stair well because I could not get the camera there. Also, if I had a telephoto lens, I feel like I could have gotten a much more pronounced effect because the field of view can a much larger amount. One of the most difficult parts I found in this assignment was to make sure that you take sure all of the shots you take were at the same line with respect to your subject.
Series 1:
In this series, the subject matter remains stationary, while I move the camera.

Series 2:
In this series, the camera remains stationary, while the subject matter moves closer.
