I used a simple SSD metric to align the images. It worked alright for most of them. After I aligned the layers I did a simple contrast increase to spice things up a bit. It wasn't as exciting as I thought it'd be.
For the image borders, I just used about 1/15 of the image on each side. It seems to work fine. I didn't try to do any border detection because not all images have a border. I figured it was just better to have the border a preset.

This is the only picture that didn't work properly:
I fixed it by aligning the colors to Green instead of Blue. I think the red and blue images were simply too different to align to each other properly. There is very little white/magenta in the image.
The other images look more or less okay:
Here's one I made (Kind of cropped too much of the border). I would've done some real images but I haven't found my camera in my boxes yet! Once I find it I'm actually going to try using color filters and take 3 photos. Original IMG.
