Drawing Automata in LaTex

  • The extensible picture editor IPE is a great package: both Linux- and Windows-based versions are available. You can save the file in either EPS or PDF formats, which can be imported into LaTeX or MSWord.
  • Of course, on Linux-based systems, you could use the standard figure editor xfig, which can save in many formats.
  • Within LaTeX, the Vaucanson-G and GasTeX packages may be useful to draw automata.
The former package is a specialized one for automata, while the latter seems like a general-purpose one for graphs.
  • And finally, MS Word probably allows you to draw things as well.
  • Once you've got your figure, see this page for instructions on embedding it in your LaTeX document.
