Scope

This scope of this exam includes all lecture material through lecture #9 on February 12, 2002 and the first three labs. This material is reinforced in chapters 1-3 of your textbook.

The current lecture topic, optimization, will be test on the next exam so that you will have the benefit of lab #4, before being tested.

Preparation

We strongly suggest that you work the prior exams and check your answers against the provided solutions. Although time is not symmetric around the present, the recent past is a reasonable predictor of the near future. This semester's exam will not be the same as prior year's exams, but it will have similar educational goals and flavor.

We also suggest that you work all of the relevant practice problems and the assigned homework problems before the exam. Solutions to the practice problems are available in your textbook. Solutions to the homework problems are available via the Web.

We also recommend catching up on reading and revieing the slides, if you have fallen behind.

Exam Review

The recitation prior to the exam will spend a substantial amount of time reviewing for the exam. Please bring your questions.
