Getting to Carnegie Mellon from the East

You'll want to be in the right hand lane as you enter the tunnel just past exit 9. About 100 meters after the tunnel, take exit 8. Slow down immediately, because the exit ramp curves sharply.

Now get in the left hand lane, but be careful, as there is a poorly designed merge in the left lane. Take the first left, to head into Squirrel Hill (the road is Forward Ave but there's no sign).

The first light is a five-way intersection. Turn left at the light onto Murray Ave (not the extra-sharp left; Murray is at 10 o'clock, the extra-sharp one is at 7 o'clock).

Follow Murray Ave uphill for about 1/2 mile, past 4 or 5 lights. Turn left onto Forbes Ave. There is a Gulf station and a church at the intersection.

Stay on Forbes, even as it curves right and heads downhill. At the bottom of the hill you'll see the campus on your left. Enter the parking garage either at the Beeler Street light or go past it and enter from the other end.
