SRI International's Applied Artificial Intelligence Technology Program has an openings for a research engineer. SRI is a nonprofit research institution that receives funding from government and commercial clients to perform a wide range of scientific research and applications. The AAITP is located at SRI's main office in Menlo Park, California, near downtown Menlo Park, Palo Alto, and Stanford University. We are a small group that does research in planning and scheduling, machine learning, uncertain reasoning, education and training. We apply state-of-the-art techniques in these areas to such diverse areas as military planning, oilspill response planning, network management, and interactive learning environments. Apply technology in one or more of the following areas: planning and scheduling, reasoning with uncertain information, education/training, and network management. OTHER DUTIES: Work off-site with end users of technology to elicit requirements and implement these in knowledge-based systems. Support field demonstrations and exercises. Perform integration of developed systems with existing software infrastructures. Maintain software versions and documentation. EXPERIENCE: Minimum 4 years past Bachelor's. Experience in working with clients required, including some experience in presenting briefings and demonstrations. Experience in developing software systems including AI components. Experience with LISP required; C++ familiarity desired. UNIX background required. Familiarity with graphical user-interface development (e.g., Motif or CLIM) preferred. EDUCATION/DISCIPLINE PREFERRED: MS in Computer Science required--PhD preferred. REMARKS: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
