How to Use the SCS Cube 3D Printer If you already know SolidWorks or some other CAD program that can generate an STL file, it's easy to get started with 3D printing. Step 1: review these slides for basic info: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/Maker/workshop-day2.pdf Step 2: install the Cube Client program, which you can find here: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/Maker/Cube/ Note: this page is only accessible to computers with a CMU IP address. The first time you run the client software, you will need to change the configuration setting to "Original Cube", since SCS has the older model and the parameters are different. Step 3: have someone who's been trained show you how to use the actual printer, which is located in GHC 9206. You should know where supplies are kept, how to load filament cartridges, the proper way to trim filament before insertion, how to apply magic glue, what to do if the print job doesn't start properly, and how to clean the print bed after printing. People who can teach you this stuff include Dave Touretzky, Myke Kubiak (SCS Help Desk staff), and Jennifer Landefeld. In the event of a jam or clog: DO NOT FORCE ANYTHING! Contact Dave Touretzky or Myke Kubiak.
