Neural Information Processing Systems
The Denver Mariott City Center is easily accessible by taxi (approximately
$35 each way) or local airport shuttle services. SuperShuttle offers
a conference rate of $12.50 each way. Mention NIPS to obtain this rate.
The SuperShuttle desk is located in the main terminal of the airport, or you
can phone them for information at (800) 258--3826.
Travel Support
Limited funds will be available to support
the travel of young investigators, post-doctoral fellows,
and graduate students to NIPS. Awards will be based on both merit and need.
The amount of aid will generally not exceed $400 per participant;
increased amounts may be available for participants traveling from
overseas. Apply as soon as possible after notification of acceptance
or rejection of submitted papers (mid-August) by sending (1) a one page
resume, and (2) a up-to-one page justification (including whether
applicant is an author of a submission to NIPS, status of the submission, and
whether author will be the presenter if submission was accepted)
to: NIPS Foundation, c/o Institute for Neural Computation, UCSD,
9500 Gilman Drive, La Jolla, CA 92093--0523. Deadline for receipt of
applications is September 20, 1997. Notification will be sent by October
15, 1997. Conference registration is not covered by the travel awards.
Workshops
There are two transportation options.
(1) Resort Express will provide shuttle service from the Marriott City
Center to Breckenridge, departing at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 4.
To sign up for this service, check the box on the registration form
and include the cost of $20.00 with your registration payment. Confirmations
will be sent to you with your registration confirmation.
(2) Rental cars and vans are available from several car rental agencies
which have offices in downtown Denver. Hertz, Avis, and Value are all
located near the Denver Marriott.
Resort Express also provides service between Breckenridge and the Denver
International Airport on a scheduled basis. Reservations for this return
service should be made at least 48 hours in advance by calling 1 (800)
334-7433 in the U.S.; 1 (970) 468-7600 outside the U.S. Identify
yourself asa a participant at the NIPS meeting.
Driving directions from Denver to Breckenridge
Take I-25 North to I-70 West. Take I-70 West from Denver to Exit #203,
then south on Route #9 to Breckenridge. Go to the last stoplight (Park
Street) and turn right. Go approximately 2 1/2 blocks to Village Road
and turn left. Go 2 blocks up the road and Beaver Run Resort is
on the left. Breckenridge Hilton Resort is just before Beaver Run Resort,
on the right.
Parking at both locations is free.
