The "see" version might hold itself to be "more correct" grammatically,
but the "zee" version seems to be more descriptive of the oozey stuff.

I remember a chip shop near here (this is an establishment in which,
in addition to other delicacies, such as haggis, raw potato prisms are
deep-fried on-site in grease, I mean in finest vegetable oil) with a sign
outside saying "Risi's", after the proprietor.  No prizes for guessing
how the customers referred to the establishment.  It works for both 's'
and 'z', but the 'z' has the more genuine feel to it.
