Sorry, but can you explain to an RP brit what the difference is, please!

I assume that one has the "oo" as in "book" and the other as in "tool"
but which is which? (That's "book" as in Southern England, not "book" as
in Northern England!) My RP has both "aloof" and "roof" with "oo" as in "tool".

Does any of that make sense on a Monday morning?
