I am compiling a speech data base, it is to be used for speech recognition
research. I have looked at the protocol outlined for the TIMIT database, and
for the ANDOSL database from Australia. Under Speaker Characteristics, both
databases record the height of the speaker, the ANDOSL database also has a
record of the speaker's weight. I am curious as to why the speaker's height
or weight are an important Speaker characteristics. Why would it be
important to have a record of these parameters for the speech database ?

Any comments, or pointers would be appreicated,

thanks
