Hello,

I've heard people talking about certain microcontrollers which sounded
very interesting, but unfortunately I don't have access to a reliable
source of current databooks (I only got the ones on NEC V25/33/35/53 and
80166 with a flyer on the NEC 786xx series), so if anyone has more info
on the micros below, I would be much obliged:
(I'm especially interested if they're microcoded or not, their minimum
instruction cycle time, width & number of registers, contextswitched
through (system)stack or registerbank, external memory size, onchip
 I/O & DMA) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
- INTEL 80196
- SGS-Th. 6804, 18932 (or 68932 ?)
- MOTOROLA 68HC16 (DSP-extras)
- ?? 85(2)30 (serial controllers ?)
- ?? TLSC(or TSCL?)900 (I know there's an equivalent from TOSHIBA)
- AMD 29k series (anything vaguely resembling a *controller* here ?)
- INMOS Transputers( -same- )
- ??????? Any 16-or 32-bit, microcode-less, registerbank switched contr.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I checked out ALT....HOMEBUILT, COMP....REALTIME, COMP....ARCH etc., but
most are into "workstation" CPU's (with fancy, complex MMU's) and OS's.

Can you also recommend *retailers* (so NO qty. 100 or more) of *high-end*
(68HC11's aren't a problem in single qty.) controllers and DSP's in the
US, UK or Germany (pref. with FAX-nos.). Or do these 2 conditions exclude
each other ?
Please e-mail or post if this would be of general interest.

Many thanks, Bob van Dorp
