INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON MOTION AND VIBRATION CONTROL
			     (3rd MOVIC )

			 September 1-6, 1996

MAKUHARI MESSE (Nippon Convention Center), CHIBA, JAPAN

	******************************************************

------------- First Circular and Call for Papers -------------

                             INTRODUCTION

The International Conference on Motion and Vibration
Control (MOVIC) is an event that is organized once every
two years. Its aim is to stimulate contact between scientists
active in the area of Motion and Vibration Control with
engineers of virtually every field. The past MOVIC
Conferences took place in Yokohama in 1992 and 1994,
and were attended by more than 300 participants from 20
countries. The third MOVIC will take place in Chiba from
September 1 to 6, 1996. The primary aim of this third
MOVIC Conference is to promote scientific and
technological exchange between Japan and other
countries of the world within the various engineering
fields.

The technology of Motion and Vibration Control is
indispensable for not only such mechanical systems as
mechatronics, vehicle systems, robots, information
equipment, rotating machinery and magnetic levitation
systems, but is also vital to large structures of high-rise
buildings and tall bridges in civil engineering, and
space-flexible structures in aerospace engineering. The
hardware of sensors, actuators and digital processors have
made remarkable progress, and the software of control
theories and control algorithms have also been greatly
enhanced. Many engineering fields depend on Motion
and Vibration Control. We look forward to seeing you in
Chiba in 1996.

                                                SCOPE

The main topics of the conference are as follows:
 - Vibration Control
 - Motion Control
 - Applications of Control Theory and Control Techniques
 - Control Devices and Actuators
 - System Identification and Modeling
 - Sensing and Signal Processing
 - Noise Control and Sound Field Control
 - Structural Control and Vibration Isolation
 - Vehicle Dynamics and Control
 - Robot Dynamics and Control
 - Space Structure Dynamics and Control
 - Control of Magnetic Bearing and Magnetic Levitation Systems
 - Information Equipment and its Control
 - Controls of Motion and Vibration Coupled with Fluid Flow
 - Damping
 - Other Topics Meeting the Conference's Objectives

                                           LOCATION

The conference will be held at Nippon Convention
Center (Makuhari Messe) in Makuhari, Chiba. Makuhari is
located between Narita Airport and the Tokyo metropolitan
region and is 30 minutes from either location. Chiba has
many historical legacies and various leisure spots, and is
also quite convenient if one wants to visit other sightseeing
areas such as Kyoto and Nara .

                                  CONFERENCE FEE

The preregistration fee for the conference is 50,000 Japanese
Yen (20,000 Yen for students) and includes administrative costs,
the conference proceedings, a reception and a banquet. You must
pay extra for on site registration.

                                CORRESPONDENCE
