Hi,

After many mails reporting installation problems on infinite versions of
*nix (or things sold as such), I've decided to switch the portability
platform to use GNU autoconf: the program that produces these nice
*configure* scripts.

I've tested the installation on SunOs 4.1.3, Solaris 2.3 and Linux
slackware 1.0.9. Anyone with one of these platforms who had
installation problems is advised to try version 1.9.2.

I have no clue which systems 1.9.2 will automatically configure. Give
it a try and report experiences.

SWI-Prolog 1.9.2 is available from swi.psy.uva.nl (145.18.114.17),
/pub/SWI-Prolog/pl-1.9.2.tar.gz. This archive contains the C and Prolog
sources. The sources may compile on any OS that calls itself a Unix
clone and provides an ANSI-C compiler. A stable GCC version is
generally the best choice (I've use 2.5.7 and 2.5.8).

	Regards --- Jan
