The Hitachi Dublin Laboratory was founded in 1989 as part of Hitachi's world-
wide diversification of research. Created as a research laboratory within 
Trinity College, University of Dublin, applied research is carried out in the 
area of Advanced Computing. Collaborative projects are ongoing with a variety 
of institutions as well as Hitachi's research laboratories worldwide.
Due to continued expansion, the following vacancies now exist in the
Artificial Intelligence Group :-



                        SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER - Ref MV/3

You will be part of an award winning team developing applications using
real-time image processing technology.  The candidate will be involved
with designing both hardware and software systems aimed at facial expression
recognition and hand gesture recognition. We are looking for candidates who
can demonstrate the following abilities, together with the following qualif-
ications:-


   * A good academic qualification, Bachelor's degree or higher, in either
     Computer Science, Computer Technology or Electrical  Engineering.

   * A sound knowledge of C, UNIX, X Windows and Motif, and preferably some
     knowledge of C++.

   * A Basic Knowledge of image processing techniques and some implementation
     experience.

   * Knowledge of DataCube and HP workstation is an advantage.



		SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER - Ref CBR/1

You will be part of a team implementing a prototype case based reasoning
software system in C++. We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate
the following abilities and qualifications:-


    * A good academic qualification, Bachelor's degree or higher, in Computer
      Science and Artificial Intelligence.

    * A sound knowledge and good programming skills in both C, C++ and LISP. 
      Good knowledge of UNIX environment and associated graphical tools.

    * Preferably experience working on software projects.
