                    Add Prolog Rule-Based Components
                         to NT Applications

March 24, 1995 - STOW, MA--Cogent Prolog 3.0 is now available for Windows
NT, enabling developers to easily add rule-based components to NT and
Win32s applications. Rule-based logic can be used to enhance applications
with services such as: problem diagnosis & resolution, configuration/tuning,
planning & evaluation, intelligent advice, and language parsing. For
example, Microsoft uses Prolog rules in its NT Network Configuration
program.

The Cogent NT edition is source and object code compatible with other
Cogent editions for Windows, DOS, and OpenVMS and OSF/1 on the DEC Alpha.
This means that code developed on one platform can be deployed on many.

Cogent includes the Logic Server API, which allows Windows programmers to
embed the Cogent Prolog engine in Microsoft Visual C++ and other Windows NT
and Win32s applications that can call a DLL, and to create standalone Prolog
programs.

Conversely, Prolog programmers can extend Cogent to directly access any of
the functions provided by database APIs, networking/communications
interfaces, graphics libraries and any other facilities available to the
NT programmer.

Cogent Prolog v3.0 includes the compiler, listener, debugger, a customizable,
distributable, royalty-free runtime, full documentation and C and C++
libraries for NT (Win32s), Windows, DOS and Extended-DOS and 16 and 32-bit
(Win32s) dynamic Windows libraries (DLLs) which implement the Logic Server
API.

The NT edition is available now for $448. The optional Subscription Plus
service provides automatic updates for a year for an additional $150.

In addition to Cogent Prolog, Amzi! offers an interactive Prolog tutorial, a
rule-based systems tutorial with full source code prototypes, books, training
and consulting.
