Hello Juha,

: It's very interesting to hear of such studies. They remind me of the
: Sapir-Whorf- hypotheses, in linguistics. In short, the hypotheses says
: that linguistic structure = mental structure; of course there are many
: interpretations of it. Some say language guides and directs our perception,
: others (the strong hypotheses) says language commands our perception.

If I remember my Pinker correctly, the strong hypothesis can be considered
disproven, and the weak version cannot be proven. Being bilingual on a native
level, I have always been more amused by the whole idea than anything else
- like, is Whorf trying to tell me I see colors differently when I switch
from German ("lila") and English ("violet" vs. "purple")?

Y, Scot
