I would recommend a quality IBM clone.  There are many more 
implementations of Prolog and Lisp available on the PC, and they are much 
cheaper than comparable Macs.  I've had a lot of success with Gateway, 
and suspect Dell is a good choice as well.  Buy as much machine as you 
can afford, but don't skimp on memory.
