you could tell yourself lies all day and be quite content.  i myself probably
do lie to myself on a regular basis, but lying to yourself, when you know
better is not a very good way to live life.  base your life on a lie and it
may seem fine, but it is actually death.  false hope is not optimism, it is
no hope.  eventually you will be confronted with reality and things will be
even more terrifing than in the first case.
