In this light, George Luger's (and another author's) book _Metaphors We
Live By_ makes good reading, especially when he analyzes argument as
   war.

That's George LAKOFF and Mark Johnson, U Chicago Press, 1980. Lakoff
also has a later book, _Women, Fire, and Dangerous Things_, U Chicago
Press, 1987, which introduces his idea of Cognitive Linguistics,
recently being raged over in sci.lang.
