During the last week, I have read no less than three articles on the
conference on Astro Economics which was held in London a week ago.
This conference was dedicated to the art of using astrology to predict
the stock market. It appears that Mercury and Pluto are the most
important celestial bodies in this context.

The articles were printed in some of the major Swedish newspapers,
such as Svenska Dagbladet and Dagens Industri, which are read by
most people involved in Swedish industry and commerce. Dagens Industri,
a highly respected paper, featured a whole page on this conference.
It was printed in a neutral tone, and featured a description of a
computer program which was used to predict the stock market index
(FTSE 100) based on planetary conjunctions.

During the last year, I have read not one single article on the use
of neural networks or other AI methods in economic applications in
any of these papers.

Why?
