Looking for something which might reflect the effects of 30 YEARS of
research and development and imagination and technological advancement,
I find only ELIZA, DEBRA and JULIA in a half-hour of net-poking.

The "winners" of the Loebner Contest seem to be hoaxes, or written by
high-schoolers overnight. Is this the state of AI?

What's up here? Are all the real developments going on off-planet??

Or, nobody thinks the Turing Test is a good target for showing off?

Can someone direct me to some software that doesn't reflect the state of
the art in BASIC programming circa 1966 ?

Maybe someone in the know can tell me what percentage of IRC users/"people"
are actually software. Most certainly don't seem to be human! Is there
an underground society of "bots" going on?

Is the internet a big coverup for a cybernetic takeover which has long
passed me by? This planet gets phoney-er by the minute...

Ed Ian Allen. Call me "clueless".
