In the recent past, at their center for Cognitive Studies, the University of 
Colorado at Boulder had a NLP project to handle math problems stated as 
text.  I do not have an exact contact, but try Paul Smolensky at 
paul@cs.colorado.edu or Jim Martin at martin@cs.colorado.edu.
