Hello, comp.ai.games readers.

I only today discovered the existence of this newsgroup,
and have to admit that, at least at the moment, much of
what I see here is beyond my understanding.

However, I have something to offer that I believe _you_
will understand. I'm about to post some "hype" messages
in comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.strategic, but the readership
here seems to have considerably more depth of understanding
in the particular areas this game is experimenting with.

We are hoping for quick feedback from gamers, and had been
concerned about how we might locate AI- and GA-knowledgable
people for the valuable additional insights they may have.

Now that I've located what might be such a place, I do hope
we can give you something interesting to discuss!

The game is a turn-based wargame of limited complexity.
It has been compared to Diplomacy and Stratego.
We hope it to be the first in a family of GA products.

It includes a simple programming language (linear, not NN)
with which CPs are written, and an evolution laboratory
wherein CP algorithims can play tournaments against one
another for survival points and the "prize" of producing
"offspring" algorithms.

It is presently completing Beta testing and will go into
a limited "1.0" release within a few hours. The shareware
package is unrestricted, and the *additional* capabilities
of the registered version will be detailed therein.

I will come back here and add a followup to this thread
when the zip file is ready to ship - that should be, at
the latest, some time Monday. Access by ftp and www, we
hope, will be in place almost immediately. For email,
the uuencoded zip file will probably approach one megabyte.

This group looks like a place where facts will
probably generate more interest than hype. The game's
primary author doesn't presently read Usenet groups,
but I'm going to _strongly_ recommend this one. I'm
pretty sure he'd catch all the stuff that's presently
over _my_ head.

Watch for my submission to c.s.i.p.g.announce and ..strategic,
with "CDDNA" in the subject line. I plan to followup here,
as well, but after the moderator of ..announce posts it.

Cloak, Dagger, and DNA!

If I have misunderstood something about this newsgroup,
a short followup message will be appreciated.
