What are the current trends and directions in Genetic Programming and
Genetic Algorithms? Though not entirely related, what directions can be
taken when considering Artificial Life (biological methafores, etc), Adaptive
Behaviour, etc.

Could someone point me to open issues in these fields that could be
suitable for a PhD thesis. I believe that special issues would be some
unifying material but that seems very hard to predict without some previous
deep study of these subjects. I'm also interested in analysing the possible
relation (and possible convergence) between ALife et al and GOFAI (Good Old
Fashioned Art. Intelligence).

thanks in advance,
