Self Shaping Machines and the New "Cognitive Physics"
(or: "Rockford Cracks Another Case")
by David Albert Harrell DAHarrell@aol.com

The new science of "cognitive physics" exists in a dimension known as
"cognitive space". This unique dimension occurs only as a portion of an
entity. It is the space occupied by the "cognitive machinery" that records
and reflects order within a given entity. When one views the order
reflecting mechanism of an "assembly line" composed of individual processing
instructions, one is peering into cognitive space.

To conventional cognitive science, this is an alien concept. Indeed, I am
not certain that such a specialist necessarily begins with an advantage. For
four years, none of my contemporaries in the field indicated they understood
any aspect of cognitive physics.

Perhaps the most striking aspects of this new technology is the mechanism of
Random Perspective Expansion (RPX),. A few weeks ago, I circulated an
article which I have come to call the "Rockford Analogy". This Rockford
analogy was intended to illuminate this mechanism of Random Perspective
Expansion (RPX).

Before I wrote this Rockford analogy, I was getting the same feedback from
the eminent cognitive scientist of the world, as from my tailor; "This looks
very interesting! I wish I understood what you were talking about." However,
since I published the Rockford Analogy, letters pour in, attesting to the
quality and brilliance of my new methods and theories. Even my tailor now
claims to have some understanding of this new science.

I attribute my sudden notoriety to the following somewhat unscientific
explanation of the illusive concept of Random Perspective Expansion, perhaps
the most dynamic and visible aspect of cognitive physics. Below, in response
to numerous requests, I have reprinted the six paragraphs that recently
rocked the foundations of cognitive science.
