Greetings Smalltalkers:

Many thanks to our July presenters from Object/FX,
John Peterson and George Davisson. A very fine
product, indeed.

Our August 15 presentation begins with Kim
Clohessy from OTI, who will lead a discussion on
embedded smalltalk, virtual machines and how to
integrate them in small devices like cellphones,
toasters and beepers. He will be followed by
Abdul Nabi from Dev Team One with a presentation
of their work with hand held trading devices.
Everyone is welcome to come see what can be done
with Embedded Smalltalk.

The intermediate study groups are preparing for
the fall with "theater smalltalk" held at
ParcPlace-Digitalk and IBM in midtown Manhattan.
The group projects are projected so everyone can
participate in the coding experience. Even
seasoned smalltalkers have trouble containing
themselves when they see the effect of coding with
a live, collaborative audience. Amateur (i.e.
"lovers of") and pro smalltalkers alike must take
time to schedule a Tuesday or Thursday in
September to participate in this unique learning
experience. If you would like to become involved
in the CARS Project (Commuter Automated Ride
Share), please contact one of the Team leaders
listed below.

Regards,

Ted McKnight & Jeff Britton
co-chairs, New York Smalltalk Users Group
