The Management Information Systems office in the Biological Sciences  
Division of the University of Chicago has an immediate need for qualified  
individuals seeking permanent full-time positions as programmer/analysts.   
We currently have openings for two individuals: one programmer/analyst and  
one senior programmer/analyst.

Programmers in BSD-MIS use advanced software development tools employing  
object-oriented technology.  The programmers work in a mature  
client/server environment with relational database 'back-ends', developing  
graphical user interface applications using IBM's VisualAge smalltalk.  

Responsibilities include:

	Develop and maintain high-quality administrative applications for 
		deployment across the Biological Sciences Division.
	
	Work with senior administrative staff to analyze needs and design 
		solutions.
	
	Maintain existing reports and database programs written in C.
	
	Using SQL, produce ad hoc reports for administrative staff.
	
	The senior p/a will be expected to mentor other staff in 
	object-oriented technologies.

Skills:

	Familiarity with object-oriented programming and analysis 
	concepts.
	
	An understanding of relational database technology including 
	strong SQL skills.
		
	Experience programming in a Unix/RDBMS environment.
	
	Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
