Have a look to see how its done in HotDraw or SmallDraw.  I would give
you a qoute but I'm on 2400 baud (yuk) and you'll get a much more
elegant method by looking at these.  HotDraw does nearly everything one
needs for any kind of 2D graphics editting --- and OO should mean not
having to reinvent the wheel.
