Subject: Q: Dead Listener initially, in image: why?

I have an image which was ported from MCL 2.0 to MCL 3.0 recently, and
everything works fine, except for one minor detail. When the image
starts up, the Listener is initially dead. It shows the startup message,
but the cursor never leaves the first line, and no prompt is created. A
new listener can then be created from the File menu.

What could cause this to happen?

How might I start looking for the problem area?

(I am guessing that some type of error silently kills the Listener as
the image is loading, but I do not know what type of error would do
this, and then let the program function anyway. I also don't know how to
try to track it down.)
