From an actual competitor (one of a group of thirteen participating at the
competition) I can add that the whole weekend was a total BLAST! Just
meeting people and getting new ideas for other 'bots etc was great. And the
fact that our entry wasn't fully integrated didn't matter! We still came
away with a few awards.

One of the saddest things about it was finding out how many people who were
supposed to compete DIDN'T, just because they hadn't finished what they were
working on. If you've got an idea, work on it, and remember, for next year,
that BEAM is a 'craftsmen' show: They want to see what you've thought of
and how you're putting it together. Even if it doesn't exactly work quite
right, bring it along, and get some ideas from the other people at the
show.

Next year we'll be back, with a fully integrated, awesome robot, plus a few
others based on ideas we've all developed from the show. SFU Mobile
Robotics Group will see you all in 94!
