After several polite mail requests, I dug out the info.

The book is the "Airpax Stepper Motor Handbook", and it is available from

   Airpax
   604 West Johnson Avenue
   P.O. Box 590
   Cheshire CT USA 06410
   (203)271-6000

Above address was copied from the back of the book. It is a thin book, has
a few pages on theory, and data sheets for quite a few motors, but it will
get you started on concepts.

The booklet WAS written for working engineers. It assumes basic knowledge of
electronics theory and practice. It won't tell you everything.
