I have recently returned to playing with control systems, and eventually
decided on the 8051 family of micro-controllers.

The reasons (for me important)
o	CMOS available
o	4 K is a reasonable programme size
o	Serial comms
o	Timers
o	Free Software - Assemblers, Emulator, Basic interpreter
o	40 pin dip (cheap to wire wrap)

The only problem I now have is the cost of the devices. These are
(in Australian $)

o	87C51 40pin dip $70.00 (US$100)
o	87C51 40pin dip (one time program)	$30.00 (US$43)
o	80C31 40pin dip (ie Romless ) $ 5.00 (US$7)

Are these prices similar to US,Europe, asia prices?

Thanks in advance.....
