   Dinsmore actually sells two different type sensors, analog
and digital.   The digital one works as you say.   The analog
one gives two signals that in quadrature indicate the direction
of the magnetic field.   They are hall effect devices not flux
gate devices.    The digital one is $12 in singles and the
analog one is $35 in singles.   I have not tried them out, this
is from the spec sheets.
