This is not quite true, or in other words the above statement
applies to any German dialect since dialects usually don't have
a generally accepted written form.  The standard written form of
the German dialects spoken in Alsace and parts of Lorraine
(Franconian and Allemanic basically) is High German.
 
People have been trying to separate "Alsatian" from German for
political reasons, I guess.
