My dictionaty lists "aubergine" as a synonym for "eggplant", of French
origin. What interested me is that in Arabic eggplant can be,the very
similar: "Al Baragine". Can anybody help me with the etymology of
"aubergine", and with the French-Arabic connection? Thanks.
