I've been following the posts on PhotoCD questions. At work I have several
CDs worth of B+W images. I wanted to acquire them (on my 8100 powerMac)
using Photoshop v2.5, and the Kodak Acquire module (plug-in), and save
them as grayscale TIFF images. Each highest res.image took 4min 40sec to
open io Photoshop (40Megs of RAM allocated to Photoshop!).
Because I had to process 300 images I abandoned this method.

I ended up selecting the images and copying them directly a folder on the
desktop, then opening them in Photoshop from there - total time 1:20sec!
I assume I am 'opening' a PICT file in Photoshop, not a YCC Kodak format.
	 My question:
How much detail am I losing? Is it significant for a gray-scale image?
I am downsampling to 266 dpi, the images look like high quality scans.
Could they be much better?

Is there a way to acquire using the Kodak module (or similar) in a batch
method (I used Photomatic for processing the files in a batch in
Photoshop)? It seems the Kodak module/plug-in is not scriptable.
Is there a method which is, quick, automated? Other suggestions?

I apologize for so long a post. I appreciate ANY help and/or suggestions
from this enlightened group!
