Signal Processing Society, ICASSP-96 is the twenty-first in a series of
international conferences presenting work in experimental and
theoretical signal processing, speech and acoustics.


PROCEDURES

Prospective authors are invited to propose papers in any of the
technical areas listed in Paper Categories. The ICASSP-96 Technical
Program Committee will select papers for presentation and organize the
final program. Papers will be presented in lecture and poster
sessions.  A four-page copy of each paper will be published in the
Proceedings of ICASSP-96.

Professional audio playback systems, slide projectors and overhead
projectors will be available for speakers in lecture sessions. Upon
special request, videotape or motion picture projectors may be provided
for lecture sessions.

Submission of a proposal implies a commitment to present a paper, if
accepted. Participation in the program is conditional upon adhering to
the schedule and procedures outlined in this Call for Papers.

No individual may appear as an author on more than three proposals. 
No individual may appear as the first or sole author on more than one
proposal.

Late proposals, proposals that do not include the Paper Summary Cover
Sheet, proposals from authors who failed to present an accepted paper
at ICASSP-95 without justification ("no shows"), or proposals from an
author in excess of the limits defined in the previous paragraph will
be rejected without review.

Proposals should be classified using the two-digit categories listed
under Paper Categories, which closely parallel the first two levels of
the Editor's Information Classification Scheme (EDICS) used by the IEEE
Transactions on Signal Processing and the IEEE Transactions on Image
Processing. The January, April, July and October issues of the
Transactions identify in more detail the topics included in each
category.

ICASSP-96 PAPER SUMMARY COVER SHEET: Type or Print Clearly -- 
Please answer all questions clearly and concisely.  Reviewers will reject
papers for lack of adequate information.  Attach this form to a 2-3 page

SUMMARY INSTRUCTIONS:  Authors should prepare a 2-3 page summary of their
paper, including figures and references.  Be complete but concise.  The
3-page limit is a MAXIMUM.  The summary should clearly state what is new
or novel about the work and give sufficient details to enable reviewers to
make an informed judgment about the merit of your work.  All pertinent
results that demonstrate the utility of the work should be included.  For
example, in the case of an algorithm, the summary should explain what
problem the algorithm addresses, give details of the algorithm, point out
what is new, and compare the new algorithm with existing algorithms in
terms of quality of output, computational complexity, speed of
convergence, robustness, or other relevant criteria.
