Thanks to all who emailed me on this, I intended to reply by email but 
had a little accident which resulted in losing the addresses.  It seems 
that to pitch shift a waveform, one way is to do a FFT, then adjust the 
values up or down and do a reverse FFT.

If anyone knows of a better way, please say so :)
