Check out the book "Natural Language Information Processing: A Computer Grammar of
English and Its Applications" by Naomi Sager. The book uses linguistic string theory,
which is a combination of context-free grammar and restrictions, to describe a subset
of the English language. Appendix 1, which is 42 pages long, is a computer grammar
of the English language. With some luck, you may be able to contact someone at
New York University and get a computer readable version of the grammar.
