WANTED: SOFTWARE ENGINEER for Project on Spoken Language Processing

	A new NIH-funded project, "Spoken Language Processing without 
Audition," began 1 December 1993.  The research is to study visual speech 
perception in hearing and deaf individuals.  The approach is through 
behavioral studies and computational models involving statistics, sequence 
comparison, and connectionism.

	The Software Engineer will serve as the principal computer software 
resource person for the project.  As such, he/she will write, modify or
maintain software for stimulus preparation, stimulus presentation, data
collection, data analysis, and data modelling.  The Software Engineer will 
also provide computer software maintenance, system software installation and 
upgrade, and hardware support.  He/She must be able to run subjects, interact
with other project staff, and provide written reports on progress and software.

	The Software Engineer must have knowledge of realtime programming,
interface software, UNIX, C programming language, system administration and
maintenance.  Professional experience and an engineering degree required. 
Willingness to learn sign language required.
