I'm currently collating data for a dissertation in this field, looking
particularly at the question of why all the work is being done to improve
sythesis systems.
I would be interested in, and grateful for, any thoughts regarding the
possible ways in which speech systhesis will be applied in the future.
As an example, perhaps we will be able to ring up our fax machines and
have them read to us our latest faxes. Or have a desktop computer read
our electronic mail to us over the telephone.

Thanks for any input,
Henry Rawlinson.
