  | I can't find ... speech recognition software that runs on UNIX ... I'm
  | specifically looking for stuff that runs on multiple platforms
  | (preferably SCO first) and not just the Sun.

SRI develops speech recognition software for Unix platforms. Our workhorse
machines are Suns, Silicon Graphics, and DEC Alphas. We have ported to
MS-DOS on 386 machines. Although we don't have experience with SCO, our
experience with PC hardware and Interactive Unix for the PC suggests that we
can work on PCs with SCO. The issue with PCs is that most 386 and 486
machines don't come with audio capability, so whatever option that can be
used (such as SoundBlaster cards or whatever) must be specified.
