Thanks for the info... Someone else emailed me about the same explanation..

The only reason I wanted to use a C64 keyboard was that I had a few
left over from my vic-20 and C64 days. I will probably move to a 
PC style keyboard since this is going to be more work than its
worth to use the C64 ones...
