Does anyone know where I can get a linear position sensor. I've looked
at LVDT's but they are too expensive for my application. I'm really
looking for a resistive type, preferably with a conductive plastic
element as opposed to carbon (this rules out using a slide potentiometer,
unless someone does these small enough).

It's got to be pretty small, up to 8mm diameter, with a travel of 30-50mm.

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
