I'm interested in finding out what most people's mobile robots *DO*

My robot (about 8"x8" large, powered by mutilated RC servos, controlled
by a MC68HC05 MCU) just reached its present stage of completion about
a week ago but all it does now is run around until one of its three whiskers
touches something, then it goes around the obstacle in a mode depending on
which whisker hit.

It's interesting (but gets boring) to observe the behaviour and i'm working
on non-contact obstacle detection, but i'd really like to have a goal for
the robot to solve - like look for a bright spot to recharge with solar
cells when its battery starts to run down. So, i'm looking for ideas:
what do all your robots do besides run around?
