Not 100% sure of the founders of Zilog leaving Intel..  I think Zilog was
in bussiness long before the Z80 was produced..
  
 The 8085, was Intel's rework of the 8080a CPU,  using only a single voltage
supply, additional out-board restart interupts (RST 5.5, RST 6.5, and RST 7.5
), as well as Interupt masks with two more instructions (RIM, SIM)
  
 I initially wanted to use the 8080 for a small 'Pet' robot project I
 built, but when I saw the need for the +12V, it seemed less efficient,
 so I used the Intel 8085ah as the CPU.  (BTW, I'm still trying to figure
 how to use a pair of stepped motors in place of the two permenant magnet
 motors It have been using.  'PoCo' is still drifting to the right.)
